I'm Fortunate To Live In This Amazing Place (VIDEO)

Here's a post a bit off the norm, but I couldn't resist.

I live in the university town of Bloomington, Indiana, home of Indiana University. Today I stumbled across a video that epitomizes what is so unique and special about this place in the middle of Indiana.

Despite the high-production value of the video, there are still many things that they don't touch on, such as the picturesque Lake Monroe, our world-renowned school of music, and the some of the celebrities that live here, including an internationally famous rock star, internationally famous supermodel, and others.

So, check out the video, and I hope you enjoy this short introduction to the amazing place where I live.

Have You Seen The New YouTube Player?

Permenant Link To: Have You Seen The New YouTube Player?

If you haven't seen the new player, just play one of the YouTube clips on this site (below is one for your convenience).

It's a masterpiece in functionality and usability - and it looks pretty cool too!

So much in so little a window. Now you can:
  • View a strip of related videos at the bottom of the player when you put your mouse over it.
  • Get embed info directly from the player. Just wait for a video to finish playing or click the Menu button (I don't remember this being available before)
  • Cycle through related videos using a couple arrow button to the sides of the player that appear when you mouse moves over it.
The only thing that might improve it is a built in search box. I say, give it time, you'll see one.

In any case, if you want to play with it, here's a sample video (and no, that's not my video, it's a video I grabbed from YouTube).

8 Videos That Blew Me Away

Permenant Link To: 8 Videos That Blew Me Away

The Web is all about sharing these days - sharing stories, videos, images, and more.

The following 8 short videos demonstrate a soon-to-be-launched service that brings of these different media types into an incredible Web-based tool (you use it via your browser).

I've talked about this service in the past, but it's days from launching, and what these videos demonstrated blew my mind. Watch them yourself, and you'll see what I mean.

I will be using this for goal-setting - very powerful!!!

The 1972 Attitude (Video)

I was too young to remember, but I thought 1972 was a time of relatively decent customer service. After watching this video, I'm reassessing this assumption. :)

Enjoy this McDonald's-themed blast from the past.

Put A Travel Network On Your Site

Permenant Link To: Put A Travel Network On Your Site

A newly launched site/service known as geobeats.com is capitalizing on the always enjoyable combo of international travel+video, creating short, but professional looking videos that discuss not only interesting places to go siteseeing, but also info on local customs, travel tips, and more.

The site itself is nicely done, but one of the more interesting services they offer is the ability to place their video catalog on your site with just a snippet of code. How generous of them!

All of these sites/services that allow you to plug in content with very little work - should make keeping a Website fresh, a piece of cake! Along those lines, look for a new book I'm working on to address this very thing sometime in early 2007. :)
