I thought today we would take a slight diversion from some of the search category/search targets enhancements made in Search Automator Pro, and instead look at some brand new query building tools, known as, well, Query Tools:

These tools work in conjunction with the query/keyword entered into Search Automator Pro's main search box (contains car parts in graphic) help you in the following ways (from left to right):

  • Add quotes - This button add quotes to your keywords, thus car parts becomes "car parts". The simple task of adding quotes to your query is one of the best ways of obtaining more focused, quality search results. Give it a try:

    how to be happy
    "how to be happy"
  • Remove quotes - Simply removes quotes if you no longer require them.
  • Sounds like - This button automatically adds a tilda (~) to each of your keywords, thus travel guide becomes ~travel ~guide. What does this do? Well, when you feed this altered query to Google, it not only returns results related to travel guide, but also similar results, such as tourism tips, vacation guides, and other similar-sounding results. Try it yourself:

    cooking tips
    ~cooking ~tips
  • Removes sounds like - Removes all tildas (~) from your query - removing Sounds-like functionality.
  • Reverse keywords - This button reverses the order of the keywords in your query. Thus, travel europe becomes europe travel. It may not seem like a big thing, but you'll be amazed at how useful this simple trick is for bringing to you twice as many high quality results related to your keywords. Give it a try yourself:

    travel europe
    europe travel

Yeah, I know there's another button in the graphic above that we didn't discuss (has a lightbulb icon on it).
