Permenant Link To: Unique Flash Encryption Product for $67.00
How would you like to make $67.00 for a product that you sell online, that does nothing more than generates some simple, unique code, intended to work with a unique Flash button, for a very special purpose? $67.00 for something that simple? Yup! Read on...
A gentleman by the name of Armand Morin has created a number of successful utility-type products, which he has sold online for several years. He seems to have a knack for identifying simple problems that lots of people experience, after which he creates a simple utility to help them solve it. It's the golden secret to having a highly successful business.
Apparently, Armand had identified a problem with PayPal processing that opened users of that service to theft of their downloadable products. So he created a product called FlashPalGenerator. Here's the basic scoop according to Armand's site:
Your link code from PayPal looks something like this:
<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr"method="post">
<input type="hidden"name="cmd"value="_xclick">
<input type="hidden"name="business"value="support@flashpalgenerator.com">
<input type="hidden"name="item_name"value="Test_Product">
<input type="hidden"name="item_number"value="1001">
<input type="hidden"name="amount"value="$19.95">
<input type="hidden"name="no_shipping"value="1">
<input type="hidden"name="return"
value="http://www.flashpalgenerator.com/download.html">
<input type="hidden"name="cancel_return"value="http://www.flashpalgenerator.com">
<input type="image"src="https://www.paypal.com/images/x-click-but5.gif"border="0"
name="submit"alt="Make payments with PayPal - it's fast,free and secure!">
</form>
Look at the red line above! That is your download page!
This is where your customer goes if they have paid successfully. This means, if you are trying to automate the order process by putting your product on the "download.html" page, anyone can just go there and simply walk away with your product.
Talk about a major security issue. I was unaware of this problem with PayPal. Maybe you were too. Whatever the case may be, Armand has found a simple solution using Flash, packaged it up, and is now selling it online for $67.00. Seriously, anyone with just an inkling of Flash skills could have made something similar to this and sold it online. Heck, if only 500 people purchase it (out of the millions of PayPal users, that seems highly likely), Armand has made himself a cool $33,500.00.
So, how's his program work? Well, I've not tinkered directly with it, so I can't say 100% for sure. Plus, out of respect for Armand, I'm not about to weaken his market by giving away the secret for everyone to see (although with a little bit of thinking, most Flash developers could figure it out). But I will say that it does involve nothing more than a special Flash button that is specifically programmed to work with the simple code his utility generates. That's it! Although it appears he used Visual Basic in order to create his utility, he could have easily created the thing in Flash.
I can't say that I'm not itching to tell you exactly how I would create this, but that would really be a disservice to Armand, and his great idea. So take this away from today's blog: There are a lot of simple products that could be created using Flash to address simple problems such as this. Market it as Armand has, and you could find yourself with a nice stream of income.
Be on the lookout for these types of opportunities. They really are everywhere.
